A little trivia: Canoga Park was once known as "Owensmouth". Canoga Park sure sounds better. This area is near the Western edge of the San Fernando Valley, located to the north of Woodland Hills and to the South of Chatsworth.

The location leaves it about 10-15 minutes from either the 101 Freeway or the 118 Freeway. There is a famous "Antique Row" on Sherman Way that is popular to antique lovers in the area. There is a good mix of retail and smaller office buildings in Canoga Park.

The age of the housing in this area will range from old (for the Valley) to brand new. The older homes were built in the 1930's and 1940's, which is pretty old for the San Fernando Valley. There have been a couple of 100 home tracts built in the last few years. There is still some small "in-fill" development going on in the area. These will be 4-6 new homes where an older home stood on a larger lot. The population of this area is now about 70,000.

Canoga Park is home to the Ocrutt Estate Garden Center, Canoga Park-Owensmouth Historical Museum, the Madrid Theatre (live performances) and one of the first Krispy Kreme donut shops in the Valley.
