Chatsworth sits on the North-West edge of the San Fernando Valley and covers a large area. There was once a time this might have been considered just about the edge of the civilized world and only the brave or crazy would venture over Santa Susanna Pass into that wilderness known as Simi Valley. There are still many large parcels of land that have small homes with horse facilities.

The Chatsworth landscape is characterized by the large boulders that dot the hills surrounding the area, and in fact sometimes found in the front yards of some homes. They are a sight to see. There have been over 2000 films that have chose Chatsworth for location shoots due to this interesting landscape.

Chatsworth has a lot of diversity with a moderately sized industrial park area. The homes will range from old small single family homes all the way up to very large estates. There are several distinct estate areas that offer different atmospheres. There are many condominiums and townhomes. It is an eclectic rustic area in some places and picture of modern progress in others.

The commute is enhanced with Chatsworth having the first stop in the Valley for the Metro Rail service that goes all the way to downtown Los Angeles. Freeway commuting is reasonable as the 118 Freeway still moves along well during normal drive time.

There is one small negative thing to consider. The northern part of the San Fernando Valley has a season of very high winds known as the Santa Anas. From late October until January, there will be days where the winds really howl. It doesn't bother some people, and it drives others (like us) crazy. The winds are bad all over the Valley during these conditions, but especially bad during in the North part of the Valley. And, overall, it's not the worst thing that could happen, but you should be aware they exist.
