Granada Hills is located at the North end of the San Fernando Valley straddling the 118 Freeway and siding up to the 405 Freeway. It is mostly a bedroom community, however, there are some good commercial areas. The older part of this area is located in the flatter part of the area. And, as the name implies, much of the area is in the hills.

Being well located, this area offers good commuting to various employment districts. The neighborhoods are well defined and close-knit. So, after a day of toil, it is home to a comfortable home in a comfortable neighborhood.

Most of the housing is middle level to upper middle level. There are a couple of pockets that are high end, offering large newer homes, many with nice city views. Knollwood Golf Course is a popular public golf course (my home golf club) that has won "Best Public Course" in the recent years. Tees times are moderately available and many holes are lined with nice homes.

As mentioned on other Northern Valley areas, there is one thing we feel we should mention. There is one small negative thing to consider. The northern part of the San Fernando Valley has a season of very high winds known as the Santa Ana's. From late October until January, there will be days where the winds really howl. It doesn't bother some people, and it drives others (like us) crazy. The winds are bad all over the Valley during these conditions, but especially bad during in the North part of the Valley. And, overall, it's not the worst thing that could happen, but you should be aware they exist.
