Moorpark is located just north of Thousand Oaks and just west of Simi Valley. The city started out as an agriculture center and much of the housing was built to support the workers. There is still lots of agriculture in the area, however, the growth of the area has converted a lot of the open spaces into new housing. Many of the newer housing developments are very well planned and the housing is very attractive.

This area still has the charm of a slower pace of life with the modern convenience of newer quality construction. Commuting to Thousand Oaks or Simi Valley is very easy, however, getting much further is starting to get a little slow. The 23 Freeway now has daily traffic backup during the morning and evening commutes.

There is still lots of room for development, so the building trend is likely to continue. The housing in the older parts of Moorpark are lower to middle end while the new areas are middle to upper-middle end. There are several new high end golf courses in the area, with one having a new housing development front the golf course. This is a higher end development.

The weather is moderate with ocean breezes often cooling off the area in the summer afternoons. The air is fresh, the crime is low, the schools are good, making Moorpark's popularity continue to grow.
