San Fernando is one of the few incorporated cities in the San Fernando Valley. It is located in the northeast corner of the Valley. It is one of the smaller areas as well as one of the older. The city gets the name from it's namesake, the San Fernando Mission. Many of the buildings show their hispanic heritage in their architectural style.

The housing is mostly older with some of the homes built in the 1930's. They are usually smaller homes with many of the neighborhoods showing very good pride of ownership.

There are many local and close-by employment opportunities. For those that have jobs outside this area, the 5, 118 and 210 freeways offer good commuting. Commuting to downtown Los Angeles is getting a little far, but there are many that do make that drive.
