Simi
Valley is located on the eastern edge of Ventura County,
just West of the San Fernando Valley along the 118
freeway. It has grown into an attractive community
with lots to offer. There is vibrant industry, excellent
shopping districts and housing that would meet the
needs and demands of a very diverse population group.
There
are many recreational options in this area. The biking
is a personal favorite as is the local public golf
course at Simi Hills. Employment is readily available
and diverse. For those who work out of the Valley,
they can commute south through Moorpark or east through
the San Fernando Valley. Many commuters also choose
to use the Metrolink rail system and can easily get
to downtown Los Angeles.
The
housing is mostly middle level and up. There are a
few areas of older smaller entry level homes, but
not many. There have been several large developments
over the last decade that have added a lot of very
attractive upper-middle level homes. Wood Ranch is
one of the larger developments on the east end of
Simi Valley. It is very attractive with a private
golf course at Wood Ranch Golf Club.
The
weather is a little cooler in the summer as compared
to the San Fernando Valley and the ocean breezes will
often blow through on the warm summer afternoons.
There are many attractive features of Simi Valley
and living here is rarely considered a bad move.
As
mentioned on other northern Valley areas, there is
one thing we feel we should mention. There is one
small negative thing to consider. The northern part
of the San Fernando Valley has a season of very high
winds known as the Santa Ana's. From late October
until January, there will be days where the winds
really howl. It doesn't bother some people, and it
drives others (like us) crazy. The winds are bad all
over the Valley during these conditions, but especially
bad during in the North part of the Valley. And, overall,
it's not the worst thing that could happen, but you
should be aware they exist.
