Westlake
Village is a very desirable community that straddles
the Los Angeles County and Ventura County lines along
the 101 freeway. It is just east of Thousand Oaks.
(This area is not to be confused
with a part of Los Angeles also named Westlake located
close to the downtown L.A. area)
This
master planned community offers just about the best
in anything you could want in lifestyle. We don't
want this to sound like a glowing commercial, but
Westlake is really special. There is a man-made lake
that is large enough for very small sail boats. The
lake was designed to offer as many lakefront homes
as possible. Surrounding the lake, there are many
housing tracks that offer different looks and feels.
The
housing is upper level to expansive Estates. The entry
level housing in this area starts around $600,000
(fall 2003) and the Estates can be over $10,000,000.
As you would expect, with these prices, these are
nice houses.
The
shopping is excellent with many upscale shopping centers.
A short trip will get you to a large regional mall
in Thousand Oaks. The recreation is also excellent,
especially for outdoors activity. We have several
favorite biking routes through this area.
The
commute into Thousand Oaks is measured in minutes.
The commute into Los Angeles is measured in lots of
minutes (often under an hour, but not much). That
could be the only drawback, besides price to this
area.
The
Westlake Village Chamber of Commerce (combined with
Thousand Oaks) is one of the best sites we have found.
