Winnetka
is a bedroom community located in the middle of the
West San Fernando Valley. By middle, we mean "North
and South".
There
is a very small industrial base and a few retail locations.
The rest is mostly made up of single family neighborhoods,
rental properties and condominium/townhome complexes.
There are several attractive parks in this area.
The
housing in this area is mostly middle level with many
of the homes built in the mid 1950's. The neighborhoods
are well defined and you will get a sense of this
as you drive around the area.
If
commuting can be difficult, and, of course, it can
be, this location may provide that challenge. It is
equally between the 101 freeway and the 118 freeway.
It can take at least 10 minutes, often 15 to 20, just
to get to the freeways. Then, that part of the adventure
begins. It really isn't that bad, but, it is something
to take into consideration. The benefit for this extra
aggravation is realized in lower cost for housing.
